St. Benedict monastery is located in Sussex, Egland. A community based on 22 Benedictine monks following 1,500 years old monastic traditions. Several men were selected to go and live with the monks and see if there’s a satisfying change in their life. According to one of the monks saying “these men have superficial pleasures in life and yet on a deeper level they’re not happy” Benedictine monks believe that what they’re offering is in fact the answer to their dissatisfaction by living as the monks’ lifestyle. Including eating, working, praying, and learning with the monks. Benedictine monasteries’ life at worth is based on the rules of Saint Benedict written in the 6th centruy as a practical and spiritual guide to monastic living. Some of these rules are listing, silence, obedience, and humiliating. The selection of men’s was very variation based on different stages of faith. Some of them had experience with the Christian faith some are never been into a church. Some felt God’s hand in their lives some don’t even believe he existed. And some are questioning their beliefs. Which marked the episodes interesting to watch until the end. Throughout the process, they were willingly to change by feel guilt after a discussion with fellow monks also letting their ego down as humbling themselves. Based on what I watched one thing I’ll nourish on the rules of Saint Benedict is listing and silence. We are living in a very mind taking world that we are always busy, but if we stop a couple of hours every day to reflect and stay in silence. That could reduce so many unnecessary stress and feel more connected to our God.
